While we can make big changes in our lives any time of the year, there is just something magical about the New Year that makes us all jump at the chance to reinvent ourselves. Some of us turn to resolutions, while others decide on their goals. Either way, I personally see the New Year as an opportunity to improve myself and to go beyond what I had accomplished in the previous year.

Sometimes, these changes also require leaving behind a few things in order to make room for new things to come in. Out with the old, in with the new, as they say. I have also taken this literally, using the whole weekend to clean up my room. I have been segregating clothes into Give VS Sell piles. Although, I’m thinking of other ways to make selling them online more interesting (deals or promos—any suggestions?)

Speaking of new things, this Topshop dress is one of the gifts I received over the holidays. The design is very chic and versatile—something that could be worn both on casual and dressier days, depending on how you style the dress. I also love the cut as I’ve found that one of the necklines that suit me well is the halter cut.

Halter tops are also magical because they are sexy in a subtle way. They show off your shoulders and also give a peek at your collarbones. Personally, I think collarbones are sexy. That’s my thing. Collarbones. Halter tops expose just the right amount of skin. Nothing too in-your-face or raunchy.

When I wear a piece that is closed at the neckline like this halter top dress, I typically like to wear my hair up to elongate my neck. It balances out the look. If you do decide to style your hair up as I did, I highly suggest wearing big earrings. They can either be the dangling or cascading ones, or just big stud ones like these pearl earrings I have on, matched with a smaller double-strand pearl bracelet, finishing off the polished look.

The New Year may also bring in new challenges, but never back down. With each obstacle, you have to realize the strength and move on (Henry Rollins). And while it might take some time for you to reach your goals or accomplish your resolutions, trust yourself. Don’t rush. You walk before you can run. You’ve got time. There are 365 days in a year, after all.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend! :)
