Act The Way You Feel

"I'm in love with you." The first time Augustus Waters admitted this to Hazel Grace Lancaster in the book-turned-movie, The Fault In Our Stars, my heart skipped a beat. And yes, you got it right - I am one of the many who cannot get over the book nor the movie. But let me spare you another article about it by focusing on something else.

Love is a difficult emotion to own up to. Often times, the fear of the word itself and all the connotations that come with it pushes a person to deny having the feeling. But what I have learned is that while fear clouds admittance, fear cannot hide action. No matter how much one denies feeling an emotion - regardless it being love, happiness, or sadness - actions can still speak louder than words. Emotions often times find a way to shine through.

So, let me skip past fashion-related tips just for this post and tell you something else: allow yourself to act the way you feel. Smile if you're happy, jump if you're ecstatic, and cry if you're sad. Because regardless of how you are feeling, you need to feel it in order to let it pass and/or live in it. Don't burden yourself with emotions hidden. It's not a crime to feel the way you feel. Own up to the emotion because it makes you feel alive.
