Two weekends ago, I went on a camping trip to Cagbalete Island in Mauban, Quezon. It was a 5-hour trip from Manila which entailed a four-hour bus ride and an hour on the boat. It was a great experience being with different traveling groups and individuals as well as with a few friends. I have always had a thing for outdoors (hiking, camping), so it was one of the trips I really wanted to kick-off my summer with.

Whenever people find out that I camp (as in I've camped without electricity whatsoever), I receive the same surprised expression. I suppose looks can really be deceiving at times! It surprises them that I appear very girly but can be a total guy's guy when it comes to these things. Yeah, I can pack everything in one backpack.

For just that weekend, we managed to explore the island as well as party and celebrate the Holi Festival. It just goes to show that you don't really need to spend so much or even have butt-loads of time in order to relax and unwind.

It is especially good for those who work from Monday to Friday to find time over the weekend to do something they love. After all, you have been working all week. It would be nice to get a little fresh air every now and then. ;) Escape the city, do something new!

I'm off to Camiguin tomorrow. I hope you are all having wonderful summer adventures, too!

What's your favorite weekend escape?
